BOTOX® & DYSPORT®

Both Botox and Dysport are a purified form of botulinum toxin A which when injected properly is used to relax the muscles along the brow and eyelid area. This treatment is one of the most popular procedures performed here at Hass Plastic Surgery since it is an easy, no downtime solution to getting a rejuvenated look to the upper face.

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been FDA approved since the late 80's and Dysport® received FDA approval in 2009. At our office, Dr. Andrea Hass, and her Physician Assistant, Hillary Sheitelman, have extensive cosmetic experience with both products. Their knowledge of the location and actions of the facial muscles allows them to inject in an exact pattern to give each patient the look they desire. Our patients love that they get a natural, yet youthful, (not-frozen) appearance for their brow and eyelid area.

Let us give you that eye lift you are looking for. We would love for you to contact our office for a complimentary consultation to see if treatment with Botox or Dysport is right for you. Let our experienced injectors provide you with a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan as we are confident that we have all of the tools needed to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

How soon do the products take effect?

Immediately after treatment you may have small bumps along the injected area(s) which typically subside in about 1 hour. Both products tend to take effect within a few days, gradually increasing in effect until 2 weeks after the initial treatment. At our office, we like to see our patients for a follow-up visit 2-4 weeks after the initial injection in order to evaluate the results. At that time, additional product (if needed) can be administered to maximize your desired look.

How long will the results last and when do I need to re-treat?

The wrinkle reducing effect from BOTOX and Dysport lasts, on average, 3 1/2 to 4 months. Treatment should not be repeated sooner than 3 months and some patients may notice good effect up to 5 or 6 months out from the initial injection.

Why should I bother if the results don't last longer?

In addition to the immediate short term wrinkle correction, these products slow the rate of aging on the upper face. Over time, constant frowning and squinting pull downward on the brow causing an aged or angry appearance. Regular use of BOTOX or Dysport minimizes the stress on the brow, significantly slowing this process.

Some questions we often get asked are:

How soon do the products take effect?

Immediately after treatment you may have multiple bumps along the treated area where you were injected. These generally subside in about 1 hour. Some patients may get small bruises at the site, but that is typically not the case if the patient prepares properly. Both products tend to take effect within a few days, gradually increasing in effect until 2 weeks after the initial treatment. In our office, we like to see our patients for a follow-up visit at least 2 weeks after their initial injection to see how the patient has reacted. At that time they can also add more product (if needed) to maximize your desired result and take note of how you like your refreshed look.

How long will the results last and when do I need to re-treat?

The paralysis from BOTOX and Dysport should last about 2 - 3 months. However, the wrinkle reducing effect can last longer. In the crows feet area along the sides of your eyes, wrinkles may re-appear in 2 1/2 to 3 months. Re-treatment is recommended when wrinkles remain even though your face is relaxed. This may be as long as 6 months for the brow areas, but typically will be around 3 1/2 to 4 months after your prior treatment. Treatment should not be repeated sooner than 3 months.

For more questions call our office (561)-624-7777 and talk with our staff or schedule your complimentary cosmetic consultation with our providers to see if this injectable is right for you. More importantly - if BOTOX or Dysport are not the right choice for your overall refreshed look, Dr. Andrea Hass is well qualified to offer you other options, such as cosmetic surgeries of the eyelids (blepharoplasty) or a brow lift. Often times injectables and surgeries work hand-in-hand in giving patients in the Palm Beach area a beautiful, refreshed look.

I was attracted by Dr. A's specialized training in ocular plastic surgery. I couldn't be more thrilled with my results.
